Jessica has been employed at the Roan Mountain Animal Hospital since July, 2003. She plays multiple roles here at the hospital. She's our office manager, main receptionist, and even assistant to our doctors and technician. She and her husband are the parents of two beautiful daughters. She loves spending "mommy" time with her little ladies every chance she gets.

Tabby has been employed at the Roan Mountain Animal Hospital since May, 2002. She is a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician. She is a graduate of San Juan College in Farmington, NM. She and her husband are proud parents of two sons, one of which is currently enlisted in the United States Navy. Tess, a German Shepherd, and Sprocket, a Miniature Schnauzer, are the two spoiled brats of the family. Tabby enjoys camping with family and friends, and loves cuddling on the couch with Sprocket.
Janice has been a part time employee with us since December, 1989. She is a veterinary assistant and receptionist. She loves spending time with her twin sister and five grandchildren. Josie, her Jack Russell Terrier, is Janice's most loyal friend. She is looking forward to retirement in 2014. We are very happy for her and will miss her.
Lacie is our newest employee. She was hired in August, 2013. She is a veterinary assistant and receptionist as well. She and her husband are proud parents of two beautiful little girls. The family's best friend is a Yorkshire Terrier named Skippy. Lacie enjoys spending her time with her family, friends, and Skippy.
Diana is our part time fill in employee. She has been with us since Jessica took maternity leave to welcome her first daughter in 2009. She is a true animal lover! She currently has 25 pets; 20 dogs, 4 exotic birds, and 1 cat that thinks it's a dog. All of whom were rescued by Diane. When she isn't working here with us, she is working on Beech Mountain in her family's rental business.
Teddy has recently graduated from both Mayland Community College and Avery High School. She is going to help run the animal hospital until she attends Centre College in Kentucky this fall. Her cat is “Francis the Fearless Feline” who was featured in her junior and senior children's book projects at Avery High. Her next best friend is her DOD (Dear Old Dad).

We also have interns here at the Roan Mountain Animal Hospital. Typically they are junior and senior high school students from our local schools. They generally spend 2-3 hours with us after school and on Saturdays. Here are our current interns:
Ruthie is a senior attending Avery County High School. Her ambition is to attend North Carolina State University during the fall semester of 2014. She and her family live in Linville with their German Shepherd, Bud. She enjoys reading, horseback riding, hiking, camping and many other outdoor activities.

Jonathan Tufts has been working at the Roan Mountain Animal Hospital as an intern over the summer and during school breaks for a few years now. He is a full time student at North Carolina State University earning a degree in biology with a concentration in integrative physiology and neurobiology. He plans to attend vet school after earning his undergraduate degree and to become a small animal and exotic pet veterinarian. He lives in Banner Elk and has four dogs, three cats, and a few chickens.
